He crates well, is clean, and has gone through a long training program to give him the best manners possible for his new home. Huey is an extremely handsome pit bull mix. He was found in a hoarding situation with 26 other animals. He came to the shelter extremely thin and scared. He was so shy and shut down that he wouldn’t come out of his run for months. He needs love, patience, and a quiet home that will allow him time to build trust and become comfortable. He was pretty broken when he came to us and it took him a while to come out of his shell. But now he loves all the volunteers! Huey is great on leash and is a champ on walks. He’s a beautiful boy that has been in rescue way too long. He needs someone to give him a chance to show what an amazing dog he can be. Teela is a Tennessee girl at heart! She was found running loose in bad part of the Smoky Mountains. Teela is so smart and loves playing with doggie puzzles. She will also stick to you like velcro so having a cozy couch is a must. She LIVES for food so training is a breeze for her. Unfortunately, Teela is not a fan of other animals so she needs to be the only pet in the home…but with this much personality, you don’t need another dog! Drita was stray for several weeks before some very patient people were finally able to trap her and bring her to Animal Control. This poor girl is slowly coming out of flight mode and learning that people can be trustworthy and loving and safe. We’d love to find a patient home for her that can give her more than what we can provide for her here. She needs some time to decompress and warm up, but she will eventually make someone an awesome active and loyal companion. Campari is one of our cocktail puppies. As of 9/2, they are 13 weeks old. They are also still really young and are still crate/potty training so their adopters must be home the majority of the day. Adoption fee covers their puppy booster vaccinations, their rabies vaccination, their spay/neuter, their microchip, and daycare at Dogstyle, Inc. twice a week until they are 5-6 months old if you choose to take advantage of it. Posey is a young, sweet, female pit bull terrier that was found as a stray and brought to Animal Control. While her story is all too common and not special by any means, this little girl has a remarkable personality that made her special enough for me to want to save her. I met several other dogs that day that either ignored me or were only interested in me because I had food. But Posey was different. Posey didn’t care that I had treats, or that there were toys in the room, or that the AC workers that she had grown to know and love were there. She wanted to sit in my lap and be loved on by me. And she’s like this with every new person she meets. She is a total doll….one that melts all the stereotypes of her breed away. Oh, Leona….where do we start? It is evident that this poor girl was loved at one point in her short life. She knows how to sit on command, give paw, and does zoomies when she’s excited. We’re not sure where things went wrong for her, but she’s with us now and is learning to trust again. She’s on the petite side and is so funny when she plays.
