Shepherd Retriever puppies!
These puppies were born on January 25th, 2024. Mom was a black German Shepherd and dad was a Golden Retriever. As of 7/1/24, the only one left is Jessie - the female. They were pretty shy when they first came to us, but have been coming out of their shell and we're getting to know all of their personalities. Bam Bam
As of 6/8/2024, Bam Bam is a 1.5 year old Cane Corso. He came to us after he was fostered briefly by a Chicago police office when he was relinquished to his station back in May. Bam Bam is a sweet, loving boy but can be nervous in new situations. He needs a patient owner that will provide the stability he needs to gain some confidence. He loves playing with his toys....they are the way to his heart! He's very strong and needs leash work, but we can definitely work on that in training. Valentina

Please contact them at www.gsrescue1.org for more information since she is not in our rescue.* Approximately 8 months old, Valentina is a Shepherd mix picked up as a stray in Chicago by CACC. She is a peanut at 38lbs! While she definitely should still have formal training, she is relatively easy to walk on leash and has great manners meeting dogs and people passing by. When on a schedule and supervised, she’s doing a good job working towards potty training and crate training, and can go overnight without a potty break. Vale learned “sit” in 5 minutes and will work for food! Little Valentina loves stuffed and chew toys and is very playful - by herself and with other dogs. She is currently being fostered with two adult shepherds (lovely dog manners), cats (relatively neutral) and older children (fun!) Vale is definitely still learning about the world and barks at strangers in the house or if she gets nervous. A little anxious in the car, but realizing little by little it comes with fun adventures, treats and quality time with people. Big time need to chew on things and needs some work with her puppy mouthing as she doesn’t have much bite inhibition, but she’s a sweet soul with a lot of energy and a lot of love to give! Levi
We pulled Levi from Animal Control because he had a horrible case of mange that left his skin scabbed, cracked, irritated, and itchy. Animal Control is no place for a dog that felt as miserable as Levi did. He earned his name because his mangey blue-brindle coat reminded me of a pair of dirty jeans. Levi was so great for his baths....he sat patiently while Heidi soaked and softened his thick, scaly skin until the scabs finally came off. Now that the mange is gone, his fur is slowly but surely growing back in. And he is feeling great!!! He loves playing off leash in the barn with his favorite Chuck-it ball, and enjoys going for walks on sunny days. He's going to make a great companion for someone looking for a large, cuddly dog. Kirby
Our Kirby girl is the sweet momma of our two puppies, Mickey and Minnie. Kirby is sweet as pie and loves kids. She needs a slow introduction but would do well with a male dog. She was nervous when she first moved into her foster home so it took her some time to warm up to her foster brother, but now she loves him! Lady Bird
This is Lady Bird! She is a pint-sized bottle rocket ready to burst into someone's life. This girl loves to run so a completely fenced-in yard is a must for her. She's a lot of fun but needs an owner that can keep up with her. If you think our little birdie might be a match for you, let us know. She loves meeting new people!
Marley
Marley was dumped at a shelter at the age of four months with some wounds on her mouth and legs..:: she was adopted by a family but given back due to their impatience with a puppy…the shelter would not take her back and that’s where bombshell stepped in. Marley is a young girl that can be shy initially, but is really loving and playful once she's had some time to warm up. Honey
**Courtsey Post** Everyone , meet Honey !! She is about 2.5 years old and is looking for her forever home . After she had her puppies and they were placed, sadly Honey was left at a vet . A nice lady named Cheryl came to her rescue , and got her through heartworm treatment . She is feeling much better !Honey enjoys all of the attention and would do best as an only dog. However , she does walk well past other dogs and doesn't show reactivity. Honey would be great for a single person or a family with grown children. She does very well in a crate and stays clean ! Becky
Becky is a big girl with an even bigger heart for the ones she loves. She does need new people to go slow with her because he past has taught her not to trust everyone. She, unfortunately, isn't a fan of other dogs, but has so much personality that she will be all the dog you need. She's a beautiful girl that loves her play time, but also likes to snuggle on downtime so she'll make a great companion for someone. Merry
*Courtesy Post* There's just something about Merry! Happy. Playful. Loving. Merry came into rescue pregnant back in December (hence her festive name!). All her puppies were adopted, but momma is still looking for her forever home. She loves to play fetch. She'll even entertain herself if she has a ball! She loves to run so a fenced in yard is preferred. She is ok with other dogs as long as rules are in place. Could you be a match for Merry? Eddy
Eddy was running loose for several days in the freezing cold before he was able to be trapped and caught. His survival skills are amazing! He was so scared when he first came to us and it took him a while to come out of his shell. He needs an owner that will provide a nice quiet home that will give Eddy the time and space he needs to feel comfortable. He is so loving once he does!
Teela
Teela is a Tennessee girl at heart! She was found running loose in bad part of the Smoky Mountains. She is a wild child who loves to run and needs a yard to stretch her legs. She will also stick to you like velcro so having a cozy couch is a must. She will make a great running partner and loves car rides.

Baby Huey
Baby Huey is a handsome pit bull mix. He was found in a house with 26 different animals. He came to the shelter extremely thin and scared. He was so shy and shut down that he wouldn't come out of his run for months. He needs love, patience, and a quiet home that will allow him to build trust. He was pretty broken when he came to us so we need to find him a home that will give him the space he needs to feel comfortable. He is so loving once he trusts you. Kenny
Kenny! All we can say is... what a stud! He really is something special. He LOVES to play with his toys, exercise and stretch his legs. He crates well, is clean and has gone through a long training program to make him have the best manners possible for his new home. He loves his ladies and would make a great companion for a single woman. He comes with free training so his owners can learn what he has, but they must be dedicated.
